Camino-2024-Day 1
So, how did this happen?
When I discovered that two of my grandsons would be graduating in Rochester, NY this summer, seven weeks apart from each other, I wondered how that was going to work. Hawai’i to Rochester is a long trip, and seven weeks is a long time to impose myself on my daughter, who usually puts me up (for 10 days).
I had been here for 10 days, and was walking their dog one morning, when the thought popped into my head “Go to Spain – do another Camino.”
Great idea, but how was that going to work? All my ‘gear’, including my passport, was back at home in Hawai’i. I decided to see if I could wing it, as I would need to leave in two weeks. My younger daughter, Chelsea, mailed my passport, my grandson in Rochester lent me his backpack and sleeping bag, and the rest I hodge-podged together, with a little help from Amazon.
And so, here I go again.
The WiFi is weak tonight, sorry, no photos.
The journey was uneventful and the stress was alleviated by travel angels who showed up at the right time and place to point in the right direction.
I discovered that people are ultimately good, and they want to help and serve. Sometimes we rob them of the good feeling of helping someone by thinking we have to do everything ourself. Moral of the story: don’t be afraid to ask for help!
The WiFi is weak tonight, no pictures.
I’ll try again tomorrow.
Buenos noches
