Day 21 - Carrion de los Condes, 13 miles

At one cafe stop today we were serenaded by Il Divo singing an incredible version of Amazing Grace…yes this birthday did feel grace filled.

Kevin and I hobbled out into the blue skies and sunshine and a gentle breeze…the path is wide and  flat, promising an easy walk today.  Good thing, because my feet are still in trouble.

We come upon our first cafe con leche stop within a couple of miles.  After this the tree lined  trail runs beside a river for the next 3 miles or so… With little bridges every so often.

We hear the distinct sound of cuckoos sounding exactly like their clock namesake…we pass another spot with frogs calling back and forth to each other, possibly a mating dance… It is spring after all…

oday’s walk has several places to stop for rest and refreshment, so we take advantage of that…

One of these darling villages has a beautiful church that is calling me.  We notice again how pronounced the presence of Mary is, seeming to be always front and center…Then we are walking beside the road for the last 4 miles… It is a lovely wide path, but hot and flat and did I say, beside a road…

As we walk into the town, we are hoping there will be beds at one of the convent albergues, as I have not slept in a convent yet…we enter the first one and take two of the last three beds…. My angels are watching over me again 😇
