Day 14 - Tosantos, 14.5 miles
In trouble again! At pilgrim mass last night, I walked into the church, and sat in the front row as most others were filling up and I didn’t want to sit at the back. After about 5 minutes, I realized I was the only one sitting there, so I turned to the straight faced old Spanish women sitting in the pew behind me and asked if I was supposed to be sitting there…with a shake of her head and a stern “no!” I got the message… Although she continued to explain/berate me in rapid Spanish as I quickly moved.
As I snapped off a hunk of yesterday’s bread for breakfast, I made a mental ‘note to self’ to avoid the donativo albergues as much as possible… While it was a sweet energy there, last nights dinner was some kind of rice concoction (like a poor mans paella) with roasted potatoes and bread… A very white meal…no dessert, no wine…
The sky was threatening as I left at 7:20 this morning, and within 10 minutes we were blessed with gentle rain that kept up for several hours. I watched as the line of pilgrims ahead of me all stopped to don rain gear. Today’s walk while on a nice wide path, followed a busy highway. It was interesting to notice how the highway sucks your energy, it doesn’t give back to you like Mother Nature does.
this picture is the dinner from last night, didn’t go in the right place…interesting shaft of light in the pic … Guy running the place I’m pretty sure was a Krishna devotee, hence the good energy…
Pilgrim mass last night… This was after I moved😄
I arrived in Belorado, one place I was thinking of stopping for the night at 11:15. The sun had finally come out and it seemed silly to stop. So after a tortilla break at the restaurant above, I continued on to the next village… Great decision!
As I entered the village, I knew immediately I wanted to be here… I just love these quaint little villages.
2nd picture I call the ‘Hallelujah’ moment, when you round a corner and there is your destination for the night 😄
I have never asked my body to do this much physical activity day after day… I’m so grateful that it’s holding up so well…my feet hurt at the end of the day, but the tendinitis I had going on (dawned on me today the source of the problem) is getting better, and by the next morning I’m raring to go again.
Met two women from Canada at my albergue, we will walk together tomorrow, we have reservations at the same place.
