First night

The multi-layered, multi-cultural richness of this experience is already becoming difficult to put into words.

The unassuming, narrow, 4 story, centuries old  house that will be my home for the first two nights, sits on the narrow, cobble stoned main street with a 6 x 8 inch hand painted sign.  I am immediately introduced to the unisex, communal living arrangements on the Camino when I see that my mates for the evening (yes, one is from Australia) are another woman and two men.

Sitting at a table in a restaurant filled with other pilgrims, waiting for dinner, I was pleased to experience my first Camino synchronicity, when I saw a woman who rode in the taxi with me from the airport walking my way… We greeted like old friends, and she joined me for dinner and a glass of wine.  Clare is a no nonsense, laughing out loud, kindred spirit Brit…we hope to meet up again on the trail.
