Camino 2024 - Day 3 - Puente la Reina
If I had to sum up these first two days walking in one word, it would be would have to be peace. I keep spontaneously, dropping into a sense of overwhelming peace. The lack of background noise, so prevalent in our world today, is absent most of the time when I am walking. It is replaced with birds, singing their little hearts out, excuse me for the cliché but, babbling brooks, cuckoos in the distance, the heady fragrance of flowers I have no name for, and a sense of all is right with the world.
Because I’m walking in silence most of the day, I find myself reluctant to get into my head, into my words, at the end of the day so for now pictures will need to suffice.
The day started with a strenuous hike up to these windmills.
There we were graced with the iconic metal statues. One of them is engraved in Spanish with: Where the wind meets the stars.
My hiking buddy today, Giselda from Argentina.
And the hike down… Oh my. It required mindfulness to the nth-degree. which included me doing my best not to step on the busy ants going about their day
Breakfast of champions. The most delicious fresh squeezed orange juice, Café con Leche, and an outrageous piece of tortilla all for the grand sum of $7.50.
View from my bedroom window tonight.
Resting terrace.
Not pictured was a pilgrim meal which consisted of three courses, all made with fresh vegetables, handmade dessert, salad, cod, and some crazy, good french fries and a handmade flan with cream. All for the grand price of $15.
I walked 10 1/2 miles today. Tomorrow I may be walking closer to 12. It’s hard to say all the books say something different than my phone. So I have to let go of my OCD Ness wanting to know.
