Camino 2024 - Day 14 - Burgos

Well, my foot/ankle injury has forced the end of my Camino. I’m not sure what it is, but it is some kind of overuse injury. And what I know of overuse injuries is that they definitely do not get better by over using them more .

So today I bused forward to Burgos. Instead of one night in a beautiful hotel to finish my trip, I now get three. This has turned into quite the luxury Camino for me. It wasn’t exactly my intent, but I’m going with it.

Burgos Cathedral- heart stopingly beautiful.

As it turns out, everything is truly perfect. I have run into almost every single person that I met on the Camino here in Burgos. Turns out all of them, for one reason or another, had to take a bus, or taxi, into Burgos today also (injury, water made them sick, respiratory virus…). The Camino is tough work. And I am getting to have a little completion with each of them. A cup of coffee here, lunch there, dinner tonight with a couple of friends, and who knows what tomorrow will bring?

A walk in the park.

I wanted to add this video of the miracle of the bells. But it wouldn’t upload.

The fairytale like cathedral wowed me again. Its spectacle is beyond description. Even photos don’t do it justice and at 12 o’clock, I got to hear the miracle of the bells again (if you’ve read my book about my first trip, The Way of Love – you may remember the story about that there). And once again, I was brought to tears.

Oh, and of course, my feet are feeling a lot better today after a high dose of ibuprofen and lots of rest. Potentially a couple of days of rest and I might’ve been able to walk again. But I only had three days left so that was that.

Interestingly, I have no regrets. With all the reunions happening here in Burgos, I feel very complete. I had a microcosm in a microcosm – a mini Camino gave me exactly what I needed right now.
