Camino 2024 - Day 10 - Najera

Last night and today, I met two very interesting pilgrims. Everyone here is doing it their way. Clearly they’re trying to go back in time.

Jose Antonio – has walked from his home in… Geez, I can’t remember now but I think it was Belgium. Anyway, he’s already walked well over 500 miles and plans to walk to Santiago another 500 miles. Sleeps outside many nights doesn’t even use a tent anymore he ditched that a while back. What he is carrying is all he carries – no backpack

And this is Paul. He has walked barefoot, yes, barefoot, from his home in Northern France., with his donkey and his dog. Obviously, he sleeps out side most nights also. And when he gets to Santiago, he’ll have to turn around and go backwards all the way home. We had a nice little chat. He is getting tired of everybody, wanting to take pictures of him and his donkey without asking. unfortunately he’s an anomaly, and picture worthy

A nice walk, leaving Navarette this morning

I am so grateful that the poppies waited for me. I remembered them from last time, but was afraid they would be done blooming by now.

There were a couple of tough sections today

Taking more opportunities to stop and rest this time. Learning from last time. I have no desire to suffer again.

A sketchy bridge I had to cross over it was fairly rotted away in places

Home sweet home for the night in Najera. Sorry I’m a little tired today for some reason this 11 miles really knocked me out.
