Day 38 - Vilamoir, 12 miles
Today’s walk didn’t turn out quite as short as we’d hoped, but I did it with no pain…what a miracle…I couldn’t help but wonder what this trip would have been like if I could have walked normally and not been in daily pain for 3 1/2 weeks, but quickly saw it would have been totally different, I would have met different people, had different experiences…I dismissed the conjecture as fruitless, and instead was grateful for each minute of this journey.
We started off the day by getting slightly lost…we got directions for a short cut from our albergue which was slightly off the Camino, but I have found people aren’t great with directions here, and we were soon wandering a bit aimlessly on country roads…We kept our sense of humor, pulled out an on line map and found our way.
I was prepared for the path to become less rural as we got closer to Santiago and the airport… But they have done an amazing job of preserving the integrity of the original path. We walked through mostly eucalyptus forest again today. Here’s my friend Christine soaking up the magic.
And this tree just begged a picture… It was glowing as I turned a corner, such a presence..
So tomorrow is the big day… Only another 5 miles…I’m ready to be done, but it will be bittersweet for sure.
Wifi is too sketchy for any more pics, will try and upload some more tomorrow.
