Day 26 - Arcahueja 10 miles (16 Kms) – to Hospital di Orbigo 25 miles (by taxi)
The plan today was to walk as far as I could, then taxi to my destination to make up for the two days I took off with my injury. The scenery still is nothing like the first part of the Camino, so I know I have made a good decision to skip this particular part, as after this it gets mountainous and beautiful again.
The albergue last night was aesthetically beautiful, but when I got in bed found they had box springs instead of mattresses… Really?!… What a silly place to skimp on money…never really got comfortable.
So leaving at 7 was easy… Feeling so good to be back to a ‘normal’walking day. But the walk was all along the road, without visual stimulation, the walk is very different and I found myself concentrating on my feet..a couple of places worth taking pictures of…
The last 4 kms was the hardest, for a change of pace, I put on headphones and rocked out to the Eagles…before I knew it I was at my destination….hallelujah moment for the day!
Ahhhh, but then the moment that made the whole day worth while…the albergue I chose tonight was like coming home… Walked in to incense, a Buddha statue and other shpiritual paraphernalia…a vegetarian dinner cooked with veggies from the organic garden…a Vichy shower…a massage on my legs and feet, and a yoga class before dinner from the owner of the albergue, who had studied in India many years ago…then before dinner they sang us a blessing…everything done with so much love and joy.
